Give your Main Character an audience!

Make it clear that other characters are watching and judging what Main Character does.

Why it works: It can be more satisfying to make a big choice in front of characters that the Main Character/reader really care about.

How to do it: Make it clear that you have witnesses who may judge you based on how you react (bonus points if that witness is your Love Interest). Imply that your actions could have a long-lasting impact on your reputation with those witnesses.

The setup makes it clear that the entire school is watching. Whatever happens next, there will be witnesses!
